Sandra Ellen (Smith) Howard, 72, passed away quietly with her family by her side on Sunday, April 3, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
She was the loving wife for 51 years to Kirby Howard of Dennis.

Sandy lived in Newton until 2000 when she moved with her husband to West Palm Beach, Florida. She was passionate about finding a cure for Parkinson’s and worked with organizations, such as the American Parkinson Disease Association, to find a cure and ease the burden. In her death, Sandy’s commitment to finding a cure continues as she has donated her brain to Harvard for research which is awesome because she always wanted to go to college. Sandy hated to cook, loved to bake, couldn’t garden and abhorred housework. She had an obsession for chocolate, enjoyed summers on the Cape, was a voracious reader, a committed sun worshiper, loved music and parades. She would tell you, without a doubt, that she loved “All My Children.”

In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by her three children, Kristin Stapleton of Southborough; Tracy Hansen of Wisconsin; Chip Howard of Minnesota; her siblings, Jill Bard of Florida; Jeffrey Smith of Waltham; her uncle Roy Peterson of Westborough; five grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 6, from 4 to 7 PM at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough. A short service will be held at 7 pm following the wake. The burial will be private.
