Mary Cadogan Obituary

Mary C. (Doherty),Cadogan 93, of Plymouth, peacefully passed away March 2, 2020 at her home.

Born in Everett, she was the oldest of 3 children, of Mary (Farren) and Patrick Doherty.

Mary had 65 wonderful years of marriage to her husband Bob, who died in 2016.

Mary was a fun loving and kind person, liked by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  She enjoyed reading, walking and knitting but was most passionate about her family.  She was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.   Mary has said that when her children were small and they lived in Framingham, it was the happiest time of her life.  She was a great wife and mother and taught her children by example – to quote Marcellus – “All the love we come to know in life springs from the love we knew as children” so very true for the Cadogan family.

Although Mary was very busy raising 6 children with her husband Bob, it did not keep her from working part time over the years and volunteering for many organizations.  She worked at Framingham Union Hospital scheduling the volunteers and when living at the Cape she worked at the Harwich Chamber of Commerce alongside her husband.

They moved from Everett to Framingham in 1955 then moved a few times over the years including Southborough and Harwich on the Cape.

After her husband passed away, Mary lived in Wareham with her daughter Eileen and her husband Stan, bringing along her little poodle Sara.  Eventually, Mary moved to assisted living in Plymouth where she made many friends.  With her health declining, she moved in with her daughter Susan and her wife Sandra in Plymouth.  Having the time to share thoughts and laughter with her family was so important to Mary and the family is so grateful to have the time with her.

Cranberry Hospice provided care and support during the last few years of her life and Mary enjoyed lots of laughter with all her caregivers.  She will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.

She is survived by her children, Maureen Moran and her husband Dick of Irvine, CA; Kathy Dawley of Newton; Eileen  Allgor and her husband Stan of Wareham; Susan Cadogan-Beebe and her wife Sandra of Plymouth; Bob Cadogan and his wife Brenda of Chelmsford; Jim Cadogan and his wife Juliann of Wilmington; her adored 9 grandchildren, Ryan Dawley and his wife Angie of San Francisco, CA; Meghan Mancini and her husband Michael of San Mateo, CA; Brendan Dawley of Boston; Sean Moran and his wife Lisal of San Mateo, CA;  Spencer Moran of Fullerton, CA; Mark Dawley and his wife Alicyn of Shrewsbury;  Caileen Cadogan, Bridget Cadogan and Maeve Cadogan all from Wilmington; her 7  great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by both her siblings, Roseanne Dyer and William Doherty.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 5, from 4 to 7 pm at the Morris Southborough Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 6, at 10 am at St. Matthew Church, 26 Highland Street, Southborough. Burial will be private.
