Joanne N. (Pietrasiak) Cunningham

Joanne N. (Pietrasiak) Cunningham passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022, at home surrounded by family Monday afternoon.  She was the devoted wife for 51 years of the late Clifton Cunningham, Jr.

The daughter of Dominic and Josephine (Suski) Pietrasiak, Joanne was born in Cambridge, MA and raised in Southborough where she graduated from the former Peters High School in Southborough in 1959.

Joanne is survived by her brother, Theodore Pietrasiak and his wife, Linda of Northborough; and several nieces and nephews.  Joanne was predeceased by her older brother Henry Pietrasiak and his wife, Agnes, and her younger brother Richard Pietrasiak.

Joanne was the loving and very proud mother of four children, Robert Cunningham of Webster;  Edward Cunningham and his wife Bette of North Grafton;  James Cunningham and his wife Kristen of Leominster;  Dianne DiMatteo and her husband Alan of Marlborough; eight precious grandchildren, Jonathan, Mary Jo, Clifton, Liam, Maggie, Katelynn, Brittany, and Samantha; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Bella, and Zoey Cunningham.

Joanne was a homemaker until her children reached school age when she then went to work for the Marlborough Public School System.  Within the Marlborough school system, Joanne started as a substitute cafeteria worker, promoted to baker, cafeteria supervisor, and then manager of cafeteria programs for several of Marlborough's public schools (Elementary, Jr. High, and High School).

Joanne retired in 2006 and continued to enjoy life through camping and vacationing by the ocean, always maintaining close family relationships with her children.

Cooking and baking were passions in Joanne's life.  She not only loved cooking and baking for family and friends, but had a successful occupation of preparing cakes for weddings and all other occasions.  She was employed in the 1980's by John & Sons, a local bakery in Marlborough.                                                                                      

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 2 to 4 pm, at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough, MA. A funeral service will be held at 11 am at the Morris Funeral Home on Monday, March 21, 2022.
