Janet V. (Slatkavitz) Martin

Janet (Slatkavitz) Martin, 89, of Ashland, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of late Doak Martin who died in 1998.

 Janet was a 1950 graduate of Framingham High School and was a second generation member of the Framingham Heart Study. Her children are proudly the third generation.  Janet was a home maker who devoted her life to caring for her immediate and extended family. She was always there when they needed her. Janet loved Cape Cod, from the time she visited family in Truro as child and eventually moved there after her husband retired.  While living on the Cape, she and Doak were bee keepers, who were happy to share their honey they harvested from their hives. Janet's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

 She is survived by her children, Diane Pierce and her husband ,Bill of Upton; Sandra Gooch of Milford; Daniel Des Marais of Ashland; her siblings, William Slatkavitz of Bellingham; Robert Slatkavitz and his wife, Joan of Southborough; Maryann Drugan of GA; her grandchildren, Chris Gooch and his wife Jennifer; Thomas Gooch; Brian Pierce; William Pierce and his wife Kate; 6 great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her twin sister, Joyce Burnell. 

 Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Janet will be buried with her parents in St Stephen’s Cemetery in Framingham.
