James J. Mercurio, 61, of Westborough, died peacefully on December 4, 2015 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
Born in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph and Priscilla (Bates) Mercurio

Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Tufts University and was working on his PhD at Brandeis University in Waltham in Theoretical Physics.

He is survived by his siblings, Paul Mercurio and his wife Gretchen of Auburn, CA; Pamela Hanner and her husband Karl of Southborough; Mark Mercurio of Danbury, CT; Joseph Mercurio of Marlborough; Linda Cramer of Auburn, CA; and his nieces, Olivia and Emily Mercurio, and Carly and Madeline Cramer.

Funeral will be at a later date and at the convenience of the family.  He will be buried at the New Town Cemetery, with his parents, in Sudbury.

Arrangements are under the care of the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough.
