Edward G. McCarthy entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home in Clinton, MA.
He was the husband of the late Rita J. (Tamule) McCarthy who died in 2004. He is survived by his daughter Megan L. Jordan and his son-in-law Christopher of Sturbridge, MA and his beloved grandchildren, Riley Lynn and Braxton Edward.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, attorney William J. McCarthy, Jr., his sister, Elizabeth E. Yindrick and his brother-in-law, Joseph J. Yindrick, both of David City, NE.
He leaves his sister-in-law, Mary E. McCarthy of Marlborough, MA and a number of treasured nieces and nephews, as well as his very dear companion, Carol A. Breau, of Clinton, MA.
He was born in Marlborough, MA., June 8, 1936, son of William J. Sr. and Jeannette B. (Harpin) McCarthy. He graduated from Marlborough High School in 1954, earned his bachelor’s degree from Assumption College, his master’s degree from Fitchburg State College and his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Assumption College.
He was devoted to and thoroughly enjoyed his professional career consisting of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Youth Services, Department of Education and the Marlborough Public School System.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Matthew Church, 26 Highland St., Southborough, MA. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Rd., Southborough, MA.
