Edna G. (Lewis) Polanik, 95, of Dracut, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at her home in Dracut, MA.
She was the daughter of the late Mervyn and Alice (Cyr) Lewis and wife of the late Gregory Polanik to whom she was married for almost 57 years. She is predeceased by her brothers, Olsen, Maurice, Ray and Ian and her sister Jacqueline.
Born in the small coastal town of Escuminac, NB, Canada, Edna was the oldest of six children born to Alice and Mervyn. Edna moved to Massachusetts in 1950 and went on to enlist in the United States Women's Army Corp from 1954-1956 where she was stationed in Okinawa.
Edna became an American citizen on June 14, 1955, and was actively involved in her church at St. Anne's Parish making prayer shawls for the sick. She worked at Jordan Marsh Basement at Shoppers' World in Framingham for over twenty years. Edna was also a Brownie leader for her girls and enjoyed her hobbies which included knitting, sewing and watercolor painting.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Clark and her husband James and Lisa Rutledge and her husband Frederick, her three grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Clark and Miles Rutledge, her great granddaughter, Cassandra Lopez and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, from 4:00-7:00PM at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at 10:30AM at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough, MA. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Rd., Southborough, MA.
