Our dear mother, Charlotte Elizabeth Amann, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, at the age of 89 at West Hickory Haven, Milford, MI. Charlotte was born on May 7, 1935, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Staten Island, NY to Edward and Mary Amann. She attended Curtis High School in Staten Island and graduated in 1953. She was an avid accordion player and animal lover. Charlotte married Robert E. Benson on September 1, 1956, in Staten Island. They resided in Flushing, NY where they shared two children, Charlotte Mary Benson and Robert Charles Benson. The family moved from Queens to Watertown, MA in 1960 and then purchased their first home in Natick, MA. For the first seven years, Charlotte was a Stay-At-Home Mom. She then entered the workforce working part-time as a Secretary at Babson College, Wellesley, MA. Charlotte remarried David H. Moynahan on May 23, 1975, at their home in Ashland, MA. She continued to work throughout her adult life as an Executive Secretary for Perini Management Services, Framingham, MA and Fenwal Safety Systems, Division of Kidde Aerospace, Marlborough, MA. In 1993, Charlotte moved from Hopkinton, MA to West Bloomfield, MI to be near her daughter’s family. Charlotte continued her career after her move to Michigan working as an Executive Secretary for Financial Network, Farmington Hills, MI where she retired from in 1997. She spent her retirement years helping raise her grandchildren, Michelle and Danny McCarthy of Commerce, MI and enjoying her dogs and cats: Toto, Baby, Angel, and Honey. She was a staunch Republican her entire life and followed politics spending most of her time watching CNN. Charlotte never remarried after the death of her husband, Dave Moynahan, who left us too soon on August 12, 1976.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Moynahan, her brothers, the Honorable Edward J. Amann, Jr., and Howard Amann. She is survived by her children, Charlotte M. McCarthy of Wolverine Lake, MI; Robert C. Benson (Lisa) of Danville, NH; granddaughter, Dr. Michelle E. McCarthy (Daniel Hong) of Bedford, MA; grandson, 1LT Daniel R.
